Cumberland County, PA, January 3, 2017- At their public meeting today, the Cumberland County Board of Commissioners announced the release of a new online property mapper application now available to the public. The County’s GIS Department developed the new application in-house at no additional cost to taxpayers. The new application has improved functionality offering simplified, user friendly features for public access to property information within Cumberland County. The database uses enhanced Ortho and Pictometry imagery, current geospatial data the County obtained from its 2016 aerial flight. The new application also expands mobile and Apple device capabilities providing users with more options and convenience for viewing the information.
This cutting-edge geospatial technology brings tremendous value and opportunity to further support the strategic mission of County Government in serving residents. Efficiencies and streamlined data gained with this technology are beneficial to many different aspects of County Government. The Cumberland County Department of Public Safety utilizes this data where it is crucial to fulfilling the mission of the 9-1-1 operations. The new property mapper will serve as a useful resource for local municipalities as well as the real-estate and business communities.
