In a major move to improve traffic condition in Bangalore, the traffic police of Bangalore is equipping traffic constables with GPS enabled devices.
More over this will allow senior officer to monitor the location of traffic constables and whether they are delivering their job at right place or not.
As many as 115 wireless sets have been given to personnel under the East Traffic division, while 108 sets have been provided to an equal number of personnel of the West Traffic division — in all 223 — in the first phase.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic-East) Babu Rajendra Prasad said that the new range of wireless sets will help in better tracking of VIP movements.
“Apart from helping in resolving traffic woes, these sets will also come in handy in checking crime or ensuring law and order. If our personnel are close to a spot where a crime is committed, we can easily communicate to the crime branch police and ensure that appropriate action is taken at the earliest,” he said.
