According to recent news, the Telangana state government has started project to map state-owned land through satellite imageries.
Tamil Nadu based Info Maps as has already began work on some important places in Hyderabad.
As part of the project, Bhadrachalam town is being mapped with the help of a satellite. The spread of Bhadrachalam town, which was developed as a town between 2001 and 2005, has been rapid, and unplanned. Due to this fact, revenue officials are finding it difficult to control the encroachment of state-owned land in the temple town.
Revenue officials have little information about the number of buildings, open lands and huts in the town. Madhusudan, a cartographer, said that so far, 17 towns in Tamil Nadu have been mapped with the help of a satellite.
He said that the maps will be useful to the officials to identify state-owned land. An official said that the government is using these maps to identify encroached lakes and lands in the state capital. “Notices will be issued to the encroachers based on the maps” he said.
