Pakistan to Introduce Smart Phones for Digital Mapping of Dengue

 

dengueAccording to recent news, Dengue Prevention and Control Programme (DPCP) Sindh (Pakistan) to introduce smart phones for digital mapping of high-risk areas of dengue larva breeding points, patients and other necessary information.

An official confirmed that programme management has obtained 42 smart phones which will be handed over to local persons and will be used to point out mosquito breeding areas and sites. He said smart phones were equipped with essential software which contained all required information.

The smart phones will be provided to officials of six districts of Karachi, besides Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Thatta and Larkana districts for digital mapping of these areas. He said majority of dengue cases emerged from these areas last year.

He said details of areas where majority of dengue fever cases emerged will be shown online through this technology.
