The meeting was called by Gurgaon divisional commissioner D Suresh at the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) office in the city.
The divisional commissioner said the first step in their programme would be to prioritize, and focus on offering ‘smart solutions’ for essential services, like power, traffic and water management. “Instead of taking the whole city at a time, services in small portions may be made ‘smart’ and the entire project completed in a phased manner,” said Suresh.
Deputy commissioner T L Satyaprakash, though, stressed on the need to first complete geographical information system (GIS) mapping of the city. He said the rest of the services, like power, water management and traffic can follow.
“Gurgaon has the world’s best techno-economic advisory in PGCIL and Rites, whose services can be utilised to make the city smart. Besides GIS mapping, the city needs to be freed of gensets. An efficient traffic and transportation system also needs to be put in place,” he said.
