Google Maps Adds Real-time Location Sharing of Trips

Google Maps has just unveiled a new real-time location sharing feature that allows dear ones to share their location with your Google contacts, or even share with friends and family by sending a link to your favorite messenger apps.

Whenever we share our location, the people we’ve chosen to share with will see us on their map. It will notify us with an icon above the compass on own map reminding us that we’re actively sharing our location.

Google Maps will soon roll out location sharing worldwide, allowing us to quickly let our friends and family know where we are and when we’ll get where we’re going. The answer to “where are we?” is only a tap away. During your next trip, tap the “More” button on the bottom on the navigation screen, and then tap “Share trip.” When we share our trip with people, they’ll see our expected arrival time and can follow our journey as we head toward your destination. Sharing automatically ends when we arrive.

Location sharing feature will be rolled out on both Android and iOS, and the people will be able to see our location on Android, iPhone, mobile web, and even desktop.
