FOSS4G Europe Annonce Conference Program

The second edition of the FOSS4G Europe Conference will be held at Politecnico di Milano in Como, Italy, from July 15th to 17th, 2015. A day of workshops will precede the conference on 14th July, and a code sprint will close the event on 18th July.

The Conference aims to bring together FOSS4G users and developers worldwide and foster closer interactions with and amongst European communities in order to share ideas for improving geodata, software and applications.

Conference Program

Day one highlights: Keynote speeches by Alessandro Annoni and Georg Gartner; General, Academic and Library tracks presentations and to close the day we will have the mapping parties and the icebreaker party.

Day two highlights: Keynote speeches by Patrick Hogan and Ki Joune Li and Jun Chen; General, Academic and Positioning tracks presentations and to close the day we will have the social dinner.

Day three highlights: Keynote speech by Jeff Mckenna; General, Water and Open Data tracks presentations and to close the day we will have the NASA Word Wind and Geoforall awards.

FOSS4G Europe Conference also announced a “Training School: FOSS4VGI – Using Free and Open Source Software with VGI: integration, analysis and visualization”.

Politecnico di MilanoComo Campus will host a Training School sponsored by COST Action TD1202 “Mapping and the Citizen Sensor” from July 12 to 14, 2015. This event will run immediately before the FOSS4G Europe international conference that Politecnico di Milano is organizing on July 15-17 at the same venue.

Objective of Training School:

The Training School (TS) has two key goals which are consistent with the goal of the COST Action involving “Mapping and the Citizen Sensor”:

  1. Provide attendees with skills to use FOSS4G to create and manipulate Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI)
  2. Demonstrate how to use, manipulate and visualize VGI data and how it can be integrated with other geospatial datasets
