This year’s FOSS4G 2015 Seoul was unique in several aspects. First, this was the first time international FOSS4G in Asia. For last 10 years FOSS4G has travelled all around the world and finally returned to the home place, Asia, where the term of FOSS4G was first coined. Second, FOSS4G event got out of Roman alphabet world and now face totally different letters and language, which is Korean.
FOSS4G 2015 Seoul was started on Sep. 16, 2015 and has end successfully on Sep.18, 2015. FOSS4G (Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial) has exploded in recent years and is a unique event that brings together international developers of innovative Open software and solutions, face-to-face with users, educators, and decision makers. Two full days hands-on workshops are always a highlight of a FOSS4G event, where you will be able to learn directly from the software developers themselves.
Of course the main program was a highlight, with speakers from the entire world dealing with topics of Open Source, Open Standards, and Open Data. But the true highlight of any FOSS4G was the networking, whether it was at a social event at night, or breaking off into a Birds of a Feather session in the afternoon, or a random meeting in the hallway of the venue; networking, sharing of ideas, talking, discussing, was the true spirit of what makes a FOSS4G event special.
We wish our heartiest congratulations to the winners of OSGeo Student Awards and Map Together Competition
