In recent news, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has launched Sahaaya app, a GIS-based interface, to help citizens lodge complaints regarding civic woes. BBMP Sahaaya (Help) is a easy and user friendly citizen centric Service interface. Sahaaya app helps citizens voice their grievance to the concerned departments for further action. Sahaaya provides transparency in the entire process and helps the citizen in placing a request or complaint and monitors the progress/status of the complaint.
To lodge a complaint, citizens would have to get themselves registered on bbmp.sahaaya.in by giving necessary details. Once a complaint it accepted, it is forwarded to the department concerned.
BBMP’s IT adviser T Sheshadri said:
“Citizens can upload photographs related to the problem. If a particular wing of BBMP is not responding to RTI queries or if a staffer is demanding bribe, citizens can lodge complaints about them also,” an officer in BBMP’s IT wing said.
‘Making officials accountable’ We are yet to go aggressive on giving publicity to the interface as we are testing waters with limited complaints now. What I see is that the system is making officials at the ground level more accountable and responsive. There will be some hiccups but we will resolve them as and when we encounter them.
