EUFAR/ ESA Expert Workshop on Atmospheric Correction of Remote Sensing Data

An expert workshop on atmospheric correction of remote sensing data will be held from 26 to 28 October 2016 at the Harnack Haus of the Max Planck Society, in Berlin, Germany.

Supported by EUFAR and ESA, this workshop is locally organised by the Institute for Space Sciences of the Freie Universität Berlin (FUB).

Motivation: The workshop aims to bring together both experts and young scientists working with remote
sensing data in order to present, discuss and examine current methods of atmospheric correction
procedures. The emphasis will be placed on current topics related to:

  • atmospheric correction procedures of atmospheric, land parameters and water constituents retrievals
  • RTM’s and comparison of different atmospheric correction schemes
  • Influences of inaccurate assumptions and/or neglecting important atmospheric parameters (Atmosphere, Land, Water)

Registration: Application with abstract and CV to participate the workshop must be emailed to the
workshop organisers – Thomas Ruhtz (thomas.ruhtz@fu- b erlin.de) or the EUFAR office (bureau@eufar.net) before 7 August 2016. The workshop is limited to 25 participants and is not open for the public at large.

EUFAR and ESA will cover accommodation for a maximum of two nights as well as limited travel expenses.

Eligibility criteria: Post-doc, post-doc candidates and Young PhD-students who have a proven background in atmospheric correction procedures or radiative transfer calculations.

Invited Speakers (to be confirmed):
Oleg Dubovik, Director de Recherche, CNRS
Alexander Kokhanovsky, (to be confirmed by EUMETSAT)

Important dates:

Duration: 26 to 28 October 2016
Application deadline: 7 August 2016
