New Delhi, India – According to recent news the DNA, all the major Delhi Metro stations have gone through the 3D mapping, this shall certainly help Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to combat terror threats in the Delhi Metro. Senior officers said the technology would help them in strategic evacuation and combat, if needed.
Following a terror attack on the Russian Metro system at St Petersburg on Monday, the force held a security review meeting. According to senior officers, many steps have already been taken to step up the vigil at all Metro stations and regular sweeping by Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) has been ensured.
Talking about the new technology, they said, “It helps us see all the areas of a Metro station on a 3D map. Accordingly, in any emergency situation, we can plan things from one central location. Our commandos have been performing very well in mock drills, which we have organised using the new technology. For now, major stations have been mapped. Gradually, the entire Metro system will be covered,” a senior CISF officer said.
A team of senior officers and intelligence sleuths had recently reviewed the security arrangements for Delhi Metro and significant changes in the existing system were suggested. Recently, the force had also formed an Anti-Terror-Intrusion group to tackle situations, such as if terrorist groups take over a Metro station control room or hold civilians hostage. It also plans to train all of their existing QRT personnel to handle terror attack situations.
“Our personnel’s shift duration has been increased, which will double our strength during peak hours. Extra vehicles will also be hired to increase mobility, when required. We also expect civilians to cooperate with our personnel and report any suspicious item or person spotted in or near the Metro stations. They will also be asked to be patient, in case of repeated frisking,” the officer said.
